The month started with an awesome visit from Mimi, which overlapped with a brief visit from my brother Brian (he was here in NYC for a work related event just for one night). It was especially fun to stroll the neighborhood with Brian since he worked at a middle school in Williamsburg before Williamsburg became a "cool" place to live.

A few days lapsed and all of us got really sick. We barely had recovered when we got our next group of visitors (Penny, Andrew, & Alex). During their visit I mostly laid low during the day with Rylan while they ventured to the Aquarium and local flea market. Penny offered to stay back with the girls one of nights so the boys could have a b-day celebration dinner (Sage and Andrew have the same birthday) and Tim came in to join the party. They left Sunday and Monday Dad, Les, and Jenna came. Jen stayed with us for the early part of the week, while Dad and Les stayed in the city for the week. Dad and Les took us out to a nice adult-only dinner on Sage's birthday—it was a really lovely change!

Between all of the visits, Rylan got her four top teeth (they haven't come down all the way—poor girl). She also learned how to drink from a sippy cup, although she hasn't figured out how to hold it on her own. Perhaps she just prefers Mommy or Sophia doing it instead. As for progress in the physical department, well, there's been none. Hopefully she'll crawl or walk soon, 'cause boy is she getting heavy!

As for Sophia, she some how managed to get a staph infection on her right index finger—yes, the one she sucks. It was an awful week for her due to the pain, swelling, and her finger getting progressively worse, causing two trips to the pediatrician. During the second visit, she was cultured and placed on oral antibiotics. She's been so grumpy without her finger to suck—not that I blame her—but hopefully the infection will make her give up the habit!
